The Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai, China (Tuesday, August 28th, 2018)
Our first stop this morning was the Jade Buddha Temple, built during the Qing Dynasty to enshrine two beautiful jade Buddha statues given as a gift from Burma. These statues are rare relics carved from crystal-clear white jade.
It is always interesting to see the contrast of the old and new in each city we visit.
No photos were allowed in the temple of the Jade Buddha but we were able to take pictures in the other areas.
Probably the prettiest rain chain I have ever seen.
I wish I had some pictures of the Jade Buddha. It really was quite exquisite! The only reason that the Jade Buddha is still around is that it was hidden by the monks during China's revolution.
