Chinese Silk Factory (Tuesday, August 28th, 2018)
Our last and final shopping opportunity of this trip was at a silk are gallery, where they produce extremely high quality silk embroidery. The pictures are so detailed that the look like paintings, but in fact they are stitched with different widths of silk thread.
Here is one of the artists at work.
This particular factory also produced silk rugs using a loom similar to this one.
Silk rugs are the softest thing I have ever felt!
When we finished at the silk shop, our wonderful local guide had stopped by the store to pick up some cold beer for lunch. It's kind of a strange thing, but in China many of the restaurants serve their beer hot. But Gate-1 always made sure we were taken care of with cold beer.
Our lunch restaurant.
How long has it been since you have seen one of these pop tops?
This was our final lunch together, so we all took the time to really enjoy it. It has been a great day so far, but we still have more sights to see in this beautiful city of Shanghai.
