Our final tasting of the day was at Solemn Cellars. We weren't sure what to expect at this one because they didn't have an actual tasting room. We thought...this is gong to either be really good or really bad, but lets give it a try.
As we pulled up out front, the owner, Justin Basel (owner) walked out to greet us. Their house was gorgeous, with dogs and chickens wondering around the yard. It was such a welcoming environment. He invited us inside, where he had his dining room set up for our tasting. He one of the only wine makers in the Walla Walla valley that makes only single grape wines. No blends.
As we talked to Justin throughout our tasting, he really hit it off with our youngest daughter's boyfriend. They had so much in common! They exchanged cards, and I'm sure they will keep in touch. This ended up being such a quaint and personal tasting. What a great way to end our day of wine tasting in Walla Walla.
So we said goodbye to the chickens and headed home for the night.
