Pepper Bridge Farms Tour and Tasting, Walla Walla, WA (Saturday, August 31st, 2019)

Our two beautiful girls!

Our oldest daughter and her husband have done a lot more wine tastings than we have, so they were kind enough to set up all of our tastings in Walla Walla ahead of time.  And as part of our Pepper Bridge tasting, they also signed us up for a private tour.  When we arrived, Norm, the owner greeted us personally and told us that he would be conducting our tour.  What a great surprise!  We sure didn't expect this!

He is a retired construction engineer, so he told us about how he designed his buildings top to bottom, and why everything is the way it is.

As part of the tour, he took us into his private wine library where he keeps one bottle from every barrel ever made at his winery.  They no longer all fit in this room, so he has had to expand int the next room as well.

After leaving the library, we went into the barrel room.  If I could capture the smell of wine in barrels and market it, I would be rich!  This room smelled like heaven.

The codes they use to identify every barrel of wine.

When Normed designed the four story (mostly underground) concrete winery, his wife didn't think it was pretty enough, so she designed beautiful sconces, chandeliers and wooden doors to add to the look inside and out.

This winery has been a dream come true for Normand his wife, and it was such a treat to see it and learn about their wine making philosophy.  When we finished our tour, we sat on the back balcony and enjoyed the rest of our tasting.

...And enjoyed the views.  What a fun place!
