Neahkahnie Trail, OR (Saturday, September 14th, 2019)

Our first stop today was the Neahkahnie Trail.  When we looked at our map, it showed that this  actually Y's into two trails, one to the left and one to the right.  Before even hitting the trail, we decided we wanted to hike the left trail, it appeared to dead-end into a cliff which we thought might have nice view.

This trail was not well traveled, and definitely becoming overgrown.

As our trail opened up after we got through all of the brush, we realized that this was probably going to be a great choice.

Sure enough, the trail dead-ended right on top of cliff, just as we thought it would.

And the views were phenomenal!

Looking north.

Looking south.

Steve and I typically hike in, enjoy the sights for a few minutes, and then continue on our way, but this spot was different.  We sat down on a rock, and watched the waves for about an hour.  We listened to the roar, and enjoyed the peacefulness.

I loved watching the water cascade off the moss covered rocks after each wave.

And watching the sea birds perched high on the cliffs above the ocean.

This was truly a magical destination!

As we hiked back up to the main trail, we enjoyed the views of the wind swept trees, the narrow passageways we had taken to get here, and the beautiful plants we saw along the way.

Taking the road less traveled certainly paid off today!
