Dungeness Crab at Kelly's, Wheeler, OR (Sunday, September 15th, 2019)

After 12 weeks of perfect weather on the road, we finally started getting rain today.  In fact, we got almost 4 inches in the last 36 hours.  But tonight the rain has cleared (for now) and it is time to venture out.

Just down the street from our RV Park, there is a little place called Kelly's that all of the locals go to for their crab, clam and oyster fix.  We stopped in to give them a try.

Being from Colorado, Steve and I are accustomed to snow and king crab (only available frozen of course), but we have never tried fresh dungeness crab.

All of their shell fish is fresh caught and available for eat-in or take-out.

They have outdoor and covered tables for any weather.  We thought about sitting outside, but the breeze quickly got cool and we moved to the covered area.

They cooked and cleaned our crab for us.  I think I like dungeness crab even better than snow or king crab.  The flavor is so rich and sweet!  The liquid that comes off of the cooked crab is called crab-butter.  It tastes like perfectly salted butter for dipping, and they put it right into the shell for us.

I think I could eat this every day!  So good!
