Happy Hour at Patty and Chris's Home, South of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (Wednesday, October 17th, 2018)

We enjoyed a happy hour tonight at Patty and Chris' house south of Conchas Chinas.  Patty has three boys and Chris has two, so they have five boys between them.  They also have three rescue dogs, one of which is a Mexico rescue dog.

In addition to us, Patty and Chris invited Liz (whom we met earlier at the expat dinner) and Mary and Alex (whom we had not met before).

Liz is originally from Scotland and lives in Bay View Grand with her 92 year old mother whom she takes care of.  Their home in Houston was destroyed by hurricane Harvey and they didn't have flood insurance, so after rebuilding they decided to make some changes.  That is what brought them to Puerto Vallarta.

Mary has a grown daughter and has lived in Puerto Vallarta on and off for several years.  She moves around between the north and south side of town.  We didn't get a chance to learn a lot about Mary and Alex, but definitely enjoyed our time with them.

We love getting the chance to meet new people and to learn their stories.  We like to hear what brought them to Puerto Vallarta and their feelings about being here now that they have moved.  There are definitely pros and cons from all of them.  Their lives are all really interesting!

For our happy hour Patty made a homemade gazpacho, as well as a nice variety of sandwiches and a wonderful blackberry and white chocolate tart. It was all so good, and we got to enjoy it around the table as we enjoyed each other's company.

Patty and Chris have owned their house for about a year.  There house is built between the Bay of Bandaras and the highway, on the side of a cliff overlooking the bay, which gives them amazing views! Apparently, they can climb down to the water from the first floor patio, but it is definitely a steep climb with a lot of growth in between.

We were so happy to be invited to this happy hour and to get to spend more time getting to know everyone.  The food and conversation were great!  We certainly hope that we can stay in touch with all of them as life continues.
