Desert Storm Parade of Boats (Friday, May 5th, 2017)

We spent the day with Joyce and Tony for the Desert Storm Poker run this year.  They have a beautiful Playcraft pontoon boat with plenty of room and comfort for everyone.  We brought along some snacks and lunch and made a great day of it.

Before the poker run starts, they always do a boat parade through the channel so that all of the "racers" can show off their boats, and all of the spectators can ooh and aah over how beautiful they are. This blog entry is all about the boats, so sit back and enjoy the pictures.

It was so relaxing just sitting in the channel, watching the boats go by and trying to stay cool! Many of these boats have around 3,000 horsepower.  Steve says our truck has 340 for comparison purposes. Many will go well in excess of 120 miles per hour easily with many topping 140 to 150.  Some can likely run close to 200 in perfect conditions!   That's really fast on water!!!

It's going to hit 105 degrees today, so keeping cool will be key!
