Golfing at the Refuge (Monday, May 21st, 2018)

At a recent Side by Side club event, our friends John and Sheila won a round of golf for four at the Refuge Golf Club.  It is a club here in Havasu that Steve and I have wanted to play, but have just never had the chance.  John and Sheila gave their tickets to Sam and Sharyn, and they invited us to go with them.

It was a beautiful course, and was in great shape with really plush grass.

We all played pretty well until we got to hole 16.  I think that Sam actually stayed on the fairway for most of it, but Sharyn and I were out in the rough with every hit.

This palo verde tree really ate her ball.  It took us awhile to get it out, but we did it!

We finally finished that hole and continued on, but I'm not sure any of us ever really got that hole out of our minds.  Or maybe we were just so exhausted at the end of it that we couldn't ever recuperate.  But none the less, we had a great time!

The quail families were out running around.

We really enjoyed our round of golf at the Refuge!  We will definitely have to go back and play again!

We all had some great successes today, with lots of pars (Sam even parred two par fives in a row) and I was celebrating my first par on a par 5 ever, so we went to Hangar 24 to celebrate with some beers and their huge nacho tray.

Thanks John and Sheila for the round of golf!  We had a great time!

Back in Havasu (Saturday, May 19th, 2018)

We left Colorado yesterday and made the long trip back home.  We planned on a lazy day today getting unpacked and back to normal, but by 9:00 we were receiving calls for boating, and how can we pass that up?  Our first stop on the lake was some of our friends with the Havasu Side by Side club that met on a small beach.  Everyone brought their own lunch and drinks, so we all enjoyed what we brought.

Steve and I brought sushi...isn't that what everyone brings to a boating picnic?

We stayed with the Side by Side club for a few hours, then headed back out onto the lake.

We drove through the channel and then met up with some other friends on the white sand beach.

Before we pulled off for the day, we all decided to head over to the California side of the lake to see how the new casino on the reservation was coming along.

It's coming along well.  You can see the elevator shafts, and the first couple of floors are framed.

We had so much fun with all of our friends out on the lake today!!  At some point we're going to have to take the time to get life back in order, but not yet!

My Garden is Still Alive! (Saturday, May 19th, 2018)

When we got home from boating today, it was almost 100 degrees outside.

But the crazy thing is that after being gone for almost two weeks, in pretty hot conditions, my garden has survived with a little help from Alan and Linda!  Thanks for coming over and watering for us!

Cabin (Wednesday, May 16th and 17th, 2018)

Steve's mom broke her leg about a month ago, so our timing in coming back to Colorado has been perfect for helping them with  a couple of items.

One of the things that came to mind was getting the cabin opened up for the summer.  I think the biggest part is getting the water flowing again, and that went very well with the exception of needing to rebuild the toilet.  Not a big deal!  While the boys rebuilt the toilet, we girls made some lunch.

Grandma frying bacon for BLT's.  Yum!

The gluten free girl having to slice the bread, how mean is that?

After lunch we started in on the work.  Grandma and our youngest hung the  humming bird feeder.  Or at least they tried.  As they began to hang it, they realized that the board it was hooked to was falling off the wall.  So the hummingbird feeder project became a bit more of a job.

Finally the hummingbird feeder was successfully hung.

I took pictures of the work for awhile, but then decided that it would be more fun for Steve's mom to take the pictures as she sat and watched the work (sitting is something she is not good at).  She did a great job with the pictures, but unfortunately, her vantage point from the bench wasn't the best.

So many pine needles and branches!

The mighty photographer herself.

Hanging all our work towels out to dry.

When the work was all done, we took a drive around the area to see what was happening.

And of course a drive around Red Feather includes a trip down Elf Lane.

Our youngest daughter even helped grandma put a new elf out.

The snow capped mountains peeking out from behind the lake.

A special treat before bed of homemade smoothies.

After a long day of work, it was time to call it a night.

When we got up on Wednesday morning, it was time to help our daughter clean her car.  She really doesn't have an easy way to clean it up at school, so we thought it would be fun to help her out, while grandma once again photographed it for us.

Floor mats first.

Our final job of the trip was to bring the paddle boat back from one of the lakes, but before we loaded it up, we decided to take it out for a spin.

It was a gorgeous day at the cabin and out on the lake, which made it so hard to leave it all behind.  But we had a dinner date with one of Morgan's friends that we were super excited about, so we brought the paddle boat back to the cabin and headed out for dinner.
