We'll, I've discovered a new activity here in Havasu, and I have to say I'm excited about it! I have done wine and paint sessions in Colorado, but I just discovered that we have it here as well.
In Colorado there are actual venues for wine and painting, that's all they do, but here in Havasu, a local artist rents a space at the London Bridge Resort a couple of times a month. She sets up one of the conference rooms with tables, drop cloths and all the supplies we will need for our artistic endeavor of the evening. It costs $35 to sign up for a session, and that includes everything, even your first drink!
She actually gave us a little guidance on our canvas to get us started.
Then she slowly taught us, step by step how to paint the picture of the night.
Our masterpieces are starting to come together, and our drinks are starting to run out!
By the end of the night we had a ton of fun, and even had a little something to show for our hours of girl time.
As you can see, we were all painting the same picture, but they definitely had their our own personal touch. This was a great night with girls. I can't wait to do it again!!!
We are using this blog to document and share our adventures with our family and friends. We hope the information is interesting and useful.

Fourth of July Pool Party and Fireworks (Wednesday, July 4th, 2018)
When we finished at the races, we headed over to Brad and Andrea's house for a pool party and fireworks. They have the perfect yard for entertaining, and especially on the fourth of July! They have a perfect view of the lake where the fireworks are shot.
We had so much fun at Brad and Andrea's house. We met some new friends, enjoyed some great food, and beautiful pool and great fourth of July fireworks.

Back Home (Friday, June 22nd, 2018)
Our trip back home was very uneventful, just the way we would want it to be! Crossing the border was interesting this time, in that we were searched by the Mexican military before crossing the border, then we went through immigration and customs on the U.S. side after that. Out of our four rigs, three got to go into secondary for a additional search this time. We were the lucky ones that just got to go around!
We did not have a line at the border at all, but there was a line trying to get into Mexico coming the other direction for the weekend.
When we got home it was about 3:00, and the thermometer said it was 116 F and 10% humidity.

Welcome back to Havasu! No more ocean breezes, no more waves crashing, and no more fresh seafood, but we do love it here, even when the temps are soaring.
I took time to clean up my shells that I collected on our sandy beach and at Las Conchas. I think I did pretty well! I'm excited to add them to my collection!
A lot of people has asked me where Puerto Penasco is... it is at the top of the Sea of Cortez, about an hour across the border in Sonoyta. It takes us about seven hours to get there from Havasu. This includes a stop for gas in Gila Bend and all the border related stuff!

Back in Havasu (Saturday, May 19th, 2018)
We left Colorado yesterday and made the long trip back home. We planned on a lazy day today getting unpacked and back to normal, but by 9:00 we were receiving calls for boating, and how can we pass that up? Our first stop on the lake was some of our friends with the Havasu Side by Side club that met on a small beach. Everyone brought their own lunch and drinks, so we all enjoyed what we brought.
Steve and I brought sushi...isn't that what everyone brings to a boating picnic?
We stayed with the Side by Side club for a few hours, then headed back out onto the lake.
We drove through the channel and then met up with some other friends on the white sand beach.
Before we pulled off for the day, we all decided to head over to the California side of the lake to see how the new casino on the reservation was coming along.
It's coming along well. You can see the elevator shafts, and the first couple of floors are framed.

We had so much fun with all of our friends out on the lake today!! At some point we're going to have to take the time to get life back in order, but not yet!

Wickenburg to Havasu (Wednesday, April 4th, 2018))
After a great night's sleep (because we were all exhausted from yesterday's adventures), we hit the road again to head back to Havasu. A short jaunt on the city streets dumped us onto a spur of the Arizona Peace Trail for the first leg of our trip.
Our first excitement of the morning was a hill that was just a little too steep without enough speed. Sam got high centered and had to be wenched off. Easy fix! Now this is my kind of excitement!
Sam flattened it out for the rest of us, so we all made it up without any problems.
Then on down the Arizona Peace Trail. We had to go through a lot of ranch land again.
So many gates! Between the eight of us, we opened and closed 16 gates today. No small task when you have to unharness, unplug your intercom and unplug you pumper just to get out of the car each time, and then redo it all again when you get back in. Lucky for us, Roxanne was a GREAT sport and did a lot of the gates for us. She only had harness to deal with. Thanks Rox!!!
Another beautiful Joshua Tree Forest.
And back to the Wayside Inn for lunch again. What a convenient little stop in the middle of nowhere!
Gas too!
Then back on the road toward home!
This pointy hill is just outside of Wayside. Sorry for the dusty picture, but that's part of RZR riding.
Shortly after leaving Wayside, we dropped down into the river bed below Alamo Lake.
I like driving through the willows.
Then back out into the dusty silt beds. Thank goodness for pumper helmets!
Lots of little river crossings.
An old mine. They are everywhere out here in the desert.
Then we drove into Maggie Wash! This is truly a paradise in the desert!
We stopped for a break in the shade of Maggie Wash.
It's a little hard to see, but I looked under Sam's car, and there was a beautiful desert lupine blooming right in the trail.

Here is a closeup picture. So pretty!
A little arch off in the distance.
Our first glimpse of Lake Havasu! We're almost home!
The Adventurous Eight after three days on the trails.
A little dirtier than when we started.
A little bit of well earned dirt......everywhere!
I guess it's time to retire Steve's driving gloves.
All together we drove 370 miles over the last three days. We saw some beautiful sights, climbed and descended almost 7000 feet, had some great conversations, and Sam and Sharyn even saw a bob cat.
It was a great three day ride with great friends! We were so happy to get to know Don and Roxanne, and to spend some fun time with friends we already knew. A huge thank you to John and Don for their trail riding experience. We couldn't have done this trip without them. Memories we will cherish forever!
