Each night in Quito, the clouds roll into the city, creating a thick, fast moving layer of fog. The temperatures drop quickly, creating a drastic change from the almost hot temperatures of the day.
Breakfast in our hotel was a nice buffet on the 7th floor, where there would have been beautiful views if it weren't for the fog that was still present from the night before.
There was steam coming off the pool from the cool temperatures outside. We see this a lot in Colorado in the winter, but didn't really expect to see it at the equator.
Our first stop this morning was the park on the top of Ichimbia Hill, where we had beautiful views of the city and the winged virgin.
Inside this park was this large structure full of bean bag chairs. It must be a comfortable meeting place for the people of Quito.
These Quito signs are all over the city, and are such a fun way to take pictures.
Ichimbia Park was a great way to start our morning. We could see how long and narrow the city of Quito is growing. It is surrounded to the West by the volcano, and to the easy by the big valley, so the only place that the city of Quito can grow is North and South.
