Lake Havasu City - Jets and Christmas Parade of Lights (Friday, December 4th, 2015)

It is a beautiful day in Havasu today, and there is a lot going on around town. Steve and I headed to the gym and his parents took a walk around the neighborhood, and then we all met back at the house for our morning coffee.

We decided to head down to see the grand opening of the new remote control jet facility. On the south side of town there is a park called Sara Park that is used for many purposes. One area in the park in the rodeo grounds, there are baseball fields, the Havasu 95 speedway (where the stock car races are held), hiking trails and so much more; and the newest addition to the park is the RC plane facility. The new RC airfield is in the back section of the park. They have put in a beautiful paved 850 foot run way, bathroom facilities and some covered areas to keep it from getting too hot in the summer.

We stood and watched a few plane flights, and then we went and grabbed the truck and parked it up on the hill so we could sit on the tailgate and watch a little longer. There were some really nice jet planes, and from what we heard they can cost easily cost $20,000 or much more. Hopefully the guys that are flying them know what they are doing!

These planes are pretty big!

It's a nice facility

Our favorite were twin planes that flew in formation. They were really fun to watch.

After watching the RC jets for a while, we headed back to the house to get ready for the 33 Annual Havasu Parade of Lights. It is such a fun parade because it is a boat parade that goes through the Bridge Water Channel.

Our friends Alan and Linda came over to our house and we all headed down to Chipotle to grab an easy dinner to take with us. We got our burrito bowls and walked over to the channel carrying our cooler, coats and chairs. It was the prefect night, with no wind and temperatures in the 60’s. We found a great spot, right in front of Kokomos, which is a bar on the channel. We set up our chairs right against the rail where our view couldn’t be blocked and ate our dinner and had a beer while we waited for the parade to start.

As we sat there, my friend Cheryl from Havasu Fitness came down and joined us. We also got phone calls from both of the girls during the parade, so we chatted with both of them a little bit too.

A parade wouldn't be complete without the guest of honor!
As we were leaving the parade, we walked by the south end of Kokomos, and there was an ice skating rink set up for the season. What a great way to get in the holiday spirit in a warm climate!
