St. Lucia (Tuesday, March 12th, 2019)

St. Lucia is a nice cruise ship port, because it is in walking distance of town and beaches.  Off to the left of the ship, is the runway for the airport.  Our adventure for the day was to walk around the end of the runway to a very nice beach called Vegie Beach.  It was about a mile plus each way.

During our walk, we passed the St. Lucia Olympic committee House.  That was kind of fun!

And stopped at the local store for some water, which ended up to be coconut water because we didn't pay very close attention.

Then we made our way around the end of the runway.

...and down to the beach.  It was a beautiful, quite beach with a couple of resorts on one end, and snacks and chair rentals on the other end.

We rented chairs from a guy named Sean, and since there were six of us, he gave us two "beds" and an umbrella for $15, usually $10 per "bed" and $5 for an umbrella.  A nice discount for traveling in packs.  He also introduced us to his friend Petra who promised to keep the beers coming for the afternoon.  She charged $2.50 for beers delivered to us in buckets on the beach.

The local beer for St. Lucia.

Our home for the day.  Not bad!

Although we only got to see a very small part of St. Lucia, it is a beautiful island with very nice people.  We were here about 27 years ago, and will hopefully get to come back again some day!

When we returned to the Norweign Dawn, we enjoyed an incredible aerialist show and then a nice Asian dinner at Bamboo Restaurant.
