El Yunque and Fajardo, Puerto Rico (Friday,March 8th, 2019)

One of our favorite places to visit when we are in Puerto Rico is El Yunque, the only National Park in the U.S. that is a tropical rain forest.  Unfortunately, in the summer of 2017, hurricane Maria did a lot of damage to all of the Caribbean islands, and much of it is still visible, but the beauty of this place still shines through.

After leaving El Yunque, we headed to the nearby town of Fajardo for some lunch at a little place by the marina called Don Candi.

Don Candi's specializes in whole fried snapper and arrapas.

There are fish that hang out just outside of the restaurant, hoping for a little hand out, and if you give them one, they go crazy!

Don Candi's doesn't serve any alcohol, but if you just walk across the street, there is a little place that will sell you whatever you want to go with your lunch.

After lunch, we stopped at a beautiful park in Fajardo.

What a beautiful relaxing day on the east side of Puerto Rico!  We love El Yunque, and would come here every time we are in Puerto Rico if at all possible!

Tonight we went to Dennis and Cyndi's hotel (Casa Condado) for dinner.  Steve and I shared the grilled pork chops and lobster risotto, and truly enjoyed them both!
