Since selling our Colorado house in February, we've been living in a state of limbo trying to figure out what our retired lives should look like.
We've been watching the housing market in the Denver area, thinking that we'd be re-buying there and continuing to visit Havasu for vacations, but since surviving our first summer here, and now enjoying the beautiful fall, we've decided that this is where we want to be...at least for now.
We've started making the necessary changes. We now have our new Arizona driver's licenses, and we've moved our registrations and insurance here as well. It feels good to finally feel like we really belong somewhere.
We feel like we are finally becoming part of the town, and have more than enough activities to keep us busy. In fact, we are finding that we just don't have the time for everything we need / want to do. We will need to spend the time to find new doctors and dentists, but haven't been able to tackle that yet. We did use our new health insurance for the first time to get flu shots, and that worked great.
We talk to our families more now than when we lived in Colorado, so we feel like we have a great connection to home in that way. And that is the most important thing of all!
We've come to the realization that when you retire, you need to find a place that has a lot of things to do that you like to do and can afford to do. It is SO important to stay busy and maybe even more important, to find things that will help you to stay healthy. Keeping both your mind and body fit during your retirement years is crucial to being able to enjoy every minute to the fullest. For us, it meant finding a place where we can be active outdoors almost all year long, and this place seems to have it all!
It has been a big change for both of us, but we feel like it is the right decision for now. We are excited to see what this new phase of life has in store for us!
