Heading Back to Puerto Penasco (Wednesday, June 13th, 2017)

We've been missing the beach, so  we decided it's time to head back to Puerto Penasco, Mexico!

It takes about 6 1/2 hours to get there from Lake Havasu City, so we try and keep the drive moving along.  But this time, as we were heading down highway 95 south of Parker, we found ourselves in the middle of a bike race/event.  And it wasn't helping our time at all.

We stopped in Gila Bend for gas, and were really surprised to see that Tesla has put charging stations in such a little town.  It was quite impressive!

We stopped in Ajo again to get our Mexican car insurance before we crossed the border.  We asked them about just getting insurance for the day we were driving in and the day we were driving out, instead of the whole time we were there, but if it's not continuous, the they have to write it as two separate insurance policies, and you have to pay the processing fee for each policy.  So that would have cost more than just insuring it the whole time.  It was a great idea to check into it, but it wouldn't work unless you were staying there for a longer time.

Our trip through Organ Pipe Cactus National Park was fun this time because the saguaros are getting ready to bloom.  I love seeing the blooms on top of them, they look like they have crazy hair.

Heading across the border into Mexico is always easy.  A couple of questions and that's it.

Once we were across the border, we missed our turn and had to take a side street to get back on track.  We thought these hot water heaters mounted on the outside of the building were interesting.  I bet in the summer they don't even have to turn them on.  It's kind of ingenious!

The highway from Sonoyta to Puerto Penasco is a nice highway with emergency call signs every few miles.

It is also a no hassle zone for Americans.  What ever that means.

When we got into Puerto Penasco, they were doing road construction on the main street in, so we had to take a detour.  Most of the roads through town are dirt.

We finally made it to the RV park, and I helped Tony unhook his jeep while Steve and Joyce went into the office to get our spots.

When we got into our spots, this large ship was sitting out off shore.  We asked around to see what it was, and were told that it was part of the Mexican Navy.  They were only about a mile off shore.

Our beautiful camp sights.  So excited to listen to the waves at night, lulling me to sleep.

There is a crew in the RV Park that provides all types of maintenance on the RV's while they are there.  They will do interior and exterior cleaning, exterior painting, and all types of maintenance. This motor-home was getting a new paint job.  They do really good work!

One of the first things we did this time was exchange some dollars for pesos.  We get a better exchange rate this way that we get from the RV Park and the restaurants in the area.

Then back to our favorite little place for lunch, El Marisco Puerto Penasco for some tacos, shrimp scampi and whole fried fish.

And we were served by our favorite waiter Alex.

We enjoy watching the pelicans on the rocks below while we eat.  It is once of their outs, so they are always plentiful!

Then back to the RV Park for some down time.

We went for a several hour swim.  The water is the perfect temperature.  We could have stayed in there all night.

As sun down approaches, the tourist boats head out.  This picture is kind of fun because it shows both the sunset cruise ship and the pirate ship together.

Even though it takes about 6 1/2 hours to get here, if we leave early, we still have plenty of time for a relaxing afternoon in this beautiful sea-side town.  Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures in this beautiful fishing village on the Sea of Cortez.

Andra's First Bogey (Monday, June 12th, 2017)

Many of you may think that a bogey isn't much to brag about, but for me, who typically scores right around double par, it's kind of a big deal.  So today, on the third hole of the Nassau Course at the London Bridge Gold Club, I got my first Bogey.  I was so excited.

Then, on the eighth hole, I got my second bogey!  This is the same hole where Steve got his first birdie, so this must be a pretty easy hole.  We'll have to keep track of this one.

We just keep improving a little each day, but most importantly of all, we are loving it!

Our First "Situation" (Sunday, June 11th, 2017)

One of things that has worried us about our recent move to Arizona has been the family that still resides in Colorado, especially our youngest daughter.  We want to make sure that we are always available to help if something comes up.

Well, it happened for the first time this week.  Our youngest daughter called because her air conditioner had gone out in her car. She has always done her basic car maintenance her self, but didn't know how to re-charge the air conditioning on this car.  So Steve told her to call ??? to see how much it would be to have it recharged, and the bill came back at $200.  Since it would cost $50 max for her to do it herself (even if she had to buy the tool), that seemed at bit steep, so she decided to go to the auto parts store, buy the tool and the can of freeon, and watch a you tube video on how to do it on her car.

She and her boyfriend worked on it together, and within 1/2 an hour, they called us to let us know that it was blowing cold, and cost them a grand total of about $25.

We were so proud of both of them for figuring it out on their own, and even more than that, being willing to do it and save some money.

Boating and Red Eyed Ducks (Thursday, June 8th, 2017)

The weather is heating up, and that means more boating time.  So instead of going out with friends, we decided to take our friends out for a change.

We spent some time in the lake, but eventually ended up just hanging out in the channel.

While we were there, relaxing, these little red eyed ducks showed up.  They we're really smart, and would wait for gnats to land on the boat, and then would swim down the side of the boat eating all the gnats.

The regular ducks were all lined up on the bank across from us, just chillin.

It was a great day, just hanging out with friends.

Siesta Time - Wall Painting (Wednesday, June 7th, 2017)

Since we moved into this house, we have had a pretty simple TV and media stand in our living room.

I would really love to find a simpler look for that wall, so I decided to take some of the money we made on our old furniture and put it into a new TV and media stand.

So last week we went shopping to find a new stand, and I found something really fun for a great price.  The only problem was that it was white, and our living room wall was white, and that was going to be a whole lot of white!  So as it always happens, one thing lead to another, and I ended up having to paint our living room wall.  Steve was kind enough to help me take all of the pictures down and move the furniture out.

As you can see, it's a whole lot of white!

And then the painting began!  I am really getting tired of wearing my painting clothes!

The edging always takes SO much longer than the rolling!

But the rolling makes such a difference!  My wall will be ready for it's new furniture once I remove the blue painter's tape. I think it looks so much better Already!

And with the furniture...It looks like home.

Another siesta time project down.  I'm so proud of myself for just getting stuff done!  Now it's time to have a little fun again.  We'll have to see what we can come up with!

Something Fishy is Going On (Saturday, June 3rd, 2017)

I have been working a lot today, and Steve decided that it was time to get me out of the house for a few hours, so we jumped in the car and headed down to the boat ramp to see if anything was going on.

As we stood on the ramp, we noticed that there were a lot of fishing boats coming in all at once, which is very unusual this time of year. So we started watching a little more closely.

All of the fishermen were bagging their live fish and taking them over to a tent in the parking lot.  We walked over to see what was going on, and it was a bass fishing competition.

Under the tent, they had horse troughs full of blue water.  We assume that they were medicating the fish to help them survive the ordeal.  Each fisherman would hand over his fish to the official "fish weigher".  He would yell out the total number of live fish and the total weight of each fishermen's catch.  Most of the fishermen had five (the limit) live fish weighing somewhere around 16 pounds total.

There were some really nice looking fish.  They would also weigh the largest fish individually for the fishermen if they requested it.

We've never really been into fishing, so this was something new for us, and pretty interesting.  By the time we went back to the parking lot, it was full of Ranger fishing boats.

Havasu has something for everyone!  Whether you are into extreme sports, fishing, hiking, or just hanging out in great weather.

Maybe next time well head out on the lake and watch the fishermen in action.

Steve's First Birdie (Tuesday, May 30th, 2017)

We have been loving golf, and play almost every day.  Some days we feel like we are getting a little better, and other days we are humbled again!

We love the beauty of the golf course, the smell of the freshly cut grass, and how relaxing it is.

Steve seems to be catching on to the game much more quickly than I am, and I am so proud of him.

Today Steve got his first birdie on the 8th hole of the Nassau Course at the London Bridge Golf Club.  It is a 342 yard par 4. He put the ball in the hole with only three shots!  Way to go honey!

As for me, I'll just keep trying and enjoying every moment of it!
