LHC Boating, Birthday and Karaoke (Friday, August 12th, 2016)

The heat is almost smoldering this time of year in Lake Havasu City. It has been just below 110 degrees each day, and the humidity is up because of the monsoons.  Air conditioning is great, but the best relief from the heat is the lake.  So today was another boating day. We put the boat on at about 10:00 this morning.  Friday's on the lake usually start fairly quiet, but as the day goes on, it gets busier and busier as the weekend warriors start showing up.

Once we got the boat on the lake, it was time for our youngest daughter's boyfriend to try his hand at captain.  He drove the boat once a few years ago, but hasn't been out here since then.  So we decided this was a great opportunity.

We just hung out in the back and enjoyed the ride!

Once he got the hang of it, we headed into Bridgewater Channel.

Heading under the London Bridge
We sat in the channel for awhile, and ate some sandwiches that we had made for lunch, and then we headed back out into the lake for some floating time.

Lake Havasu has what we call the "Hava-Dome".  For some reason, there can be storms all around the lake, but it is rare for them to actually hit the lake.  Today we had huge rain storms to the East, South and West of us, but we had a beautiful day on the lake.  The Hava-Dome protected us once again.

You can see the huge rain shaft to the south of us, but the lake was calm and sunny all day.
We also see a lot of dragon flies around the lake, and they often visit us on the boat.  They are just looking for a place to rest for awhile. This one found one of our towels to be pretty comfortable.

We pulled off the lake early and headed back to the house for showers.  We had reservations at Angelina's Italian Kitchen for dinner.  Our daughter's boyfriend has a birthday recently and we needed to do some celebrating.  As always, the meal was great, and the birthday boy got a nice piece of cheesecake to finish off.

But we weren't ready to call it a night yet, so we headed over to "Lotz on the Rocks" for karaoke night.  It's a fun atmosphere, with young and old alike all singing and cheering each other on.  Steve and I sang a duet first, then everyone joined in.

Her first time to do karaoke, so we made it a duo with a "dance" routine included
What a great day, with boating, a birthday and karaoke!
