So after a few more stops he pulled into the In-N-Out parking lot. But instead of parking, he headed into the drive-thru. We were busy talking, and not really paying any attention. And to be honest, dreaming about the shake that we would be enjoying is just a few short minutes.
As we sat in the drive-thru line, the first car in line pulled up to the window to pick up their order, and at that moment, Steve and I looked at each other and said "We forgot to order"!
Our hearts started racing, and Steve looked behind us to see if anyone else had pulled in. To our amazement, there was no one behind us. So Steve started backing up, around the curve, back to the sign for the drive through.
When he got back to the sign, he said "Were Back", and he started to place our order. The woman on the other end of the speaker said "I can't hear you, you're going to have to speak up". It was then that we realized that the speaker for the drive through was still about another fifteen feet back. So Steve threw the car into reverse again, and we backed up to the speaker and once again placed our order.
By now, we were laughing so hard we were crying, and could hardly get the words out of our mouths. As we pulled forward once again to the drive thru line, we couldn't control our laughter. And of course, it was our turn to pull up to the window to collect our shakes.
The woman on the other side of the window somehow controlled herself and very professionally took our money and handed us our shakes. That was a shake experience that we will never forget! But in the end, it was all worth it.
And I think that next time we go through the drive thru, well definitely pay more attention!
