A Concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Thursday, June 16th, 2016)

We had a chance to go to a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with some friends from our kids high school marching band.  The artist that was performing was Devotchka.  We didn't know him or his music, but it's always hard to pass up any concert at Red Rocks. So we put together a dinner and some drinks and met at Steve's brother's house at 5:00.  We were all able to fit into two cars which made it great for parking.  We enjoyed our time tail-gating, waiting for the gates to open.

Then in to the venue we went.

Red Rocks was built in 1941 and is celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year.  It is famous for it's beautiful unique setting and incredible acoustics.

There are two main entrances to the amphitheatre, one at the top and one at the bottom.  There are vendors and restrooms at both locations, as well as vendors located on the side isles throughout the venue.  There is also handicapped seating at both the top and bottom, but for everyone else, there are lots of stairs.  In fact, a lot of people from the Denver area use Red Rocks as a great work-out facility when nothing else is going on.  You can't beat the setting to take your mind off of the pain!

The seating is really spacious and comfortable.  They allow you to bring blankets to sit on to make it even better.

There was an artist at the concert, painting his representation of the concert, which we thought was pretty cool.  Steve said that at the end of the concert the painting will be for sale.

And Red Rocks is a great venue for dancing!  There is plenty of room for everyone to have a good time.

It was a great night, with great friends, in one of the most beautiful amphitheatres I've ever been to.

My first concert at Red Rocks was the Zac Brown Band, and it is a concert that I will never forget.  If you have the chance to attend a concert here, don't pass it up.  It is amazing!

Colorado Rockies Baseball (Tuesday, June 14th, 2016)

When we got home from the cabin, we got a call from Steve's brother asking us if we would like to go to a Rockies game.  We haven't been to one yet this year, so it sounded like a lot of fun. The Rockies are playing the NY Yankees, so we were pretty sure we wouldn't win, but it would be a fun night any way!

We took the light rail downtown, which was a first for us.  It was a great way to get downtown and avoid traffic.  Once we got into the stadium, we went to the rooftop bar for a drink before the game started.

While we were enjoying our beers, military parachuters landed in the stadium

Unfortunately, there was an injury during the game

Check out the score...Yankees 0, Rockies 4.  Didn't expect this!

So cute, the junior broadcaster announcing the game

Dinger the Rockies mascot made an appearance

Look at the score now.  Unbelievable, and such a nail biter!

An unexpected victory!

Cabin Time (June 12th and 13th, 2016)

Soon after we arrived home from Lake Havasu, we had an opportunity to meet our youngest daughter and Steve's parents at the family cabin for the weekend.  Our daughter just had one day to spend, so we picked her up on our way up to the cabin, and had to drop her back off that night, but it sure was great having a day with her.

Our view as we made our way toward the cabin
Our daughter and I love to see who can take the most unique pictures.  Here was my attempt, and unfortunately, I don't have any of her pictures to share.

Our walk to Lake Nakomis

All of the fishing boats lined up, ready to go!

A huge wasp nest!  Luckily, there was no one home

As we drove back down the mountain to drop our daughter off, we were greeted by a small, but beautiful rainbow.  What a treat!

After dropping her off we returned back to the cabin.  We love the time in the car with her.  Always fun to ride along and catch-up a bit.

And the next morning, we got to enjoy a  little more time in the mountains before we had to head home ourselves.

Steve's dad, not only fishing, but catching too!
