Our oldest daughter got married 10 months ago, and a month later, her husband left for IBOLC (Infantry Officers Basic Leadership Course) in Georgia. Following that, he was asked to go to Ranger's School, and gladly accepted the challenge, knowing full well that this would mean even more time away, but with huge rewards if he could complete it.
Now, after 10 months apart, and doing their best to make their lives work in separate locations with minimal contact, our daughter received the call last night, that she has been waiting months for....her husband called to tell her that he has successfully completed Ranger School. To understand what this means to us, you have to understand that 36% of all Ranger students fail the course in the first four days. Many others fail or drop out throughout the three month course. Only 1% of Army enlisted and officers are Army Rangers. This is such an incredible accomplishment, that I'm not sure I can express it in words! We are all very emotional just thinking about it!
We are quickly packing our bags, and will be leaving tomorrow to attend our son-in-law's graduation from Ranger School. We are all so excited!
