On our drive home from Lake Havasu City, we took a short detour down along the Colorado River near Moab. We stopped at a little winery we had toured last year with our oldest daughter and her husband to pick up a replacement wine glass that we had broken as we were setting it up on the shelf. And of course, had to take a few pictures of the beautiful Colorado River as we went by.
We always enjoy the sights around Moab. Wish we could have spent some time there, but at least we got to enjoy its beauty from afar as we made our way home.
We are using this blog to document and share our adventures with our family and friends. We hope the information is interesting and useful.

A Final Day in Havasu (Tuesday, June 7th, 2016)
As our trip to Havasu is wrapping up, we had the opportunity to spend one final day on the lake with our friends Alan and Linda. It was another fabulous day, escaping the heat in the best way we know how.
At a boat show in Havasu earlier in the year Alan and Linda discovered a wonderful little floaty device called the U-Float. They bought one for themselves and one for Andra. It's made out of life jacket material, and you literally sit in it. It allows you to float all day long. We discovered later in the day that if you fold down the front flap, you can use it like a little table and rest your drink on it. It was marvelous! Linda and I are demonstrating it in the following picture.
It's hard to express our gratitude to everyone who made this trip so special. We enjoyed boating, dinners at the pool, lunch dates and so much more. So many great people just made our short trip so memorable!

Drive-thru Adventure (June 6th, 2016)
The temperature today reached 115 degrees F and unfortunately for us it was a day of errands and boat work. This was the actual temperature......not the parking lot temperature! After several hours of shagging parts that we needed to fix the boat, I told Steve that I was parched and could really use a shake from In-N-Out.
So after a few more stops he pulled into the In-N-Out parking lot. But instead of parking, he headed into the drive-thru. We were busy talking, and not really paying any attention. And to be honest, dreaming about the shake that we would be enjoying is just a few short minutes.
As we sat in the drive-thru line, the first car in line pulled up to the window to pick up their order, and at that moment, Steve and I looked at each other and said "We forgot to order"!
Our hearts started racing, and Steve looked behind us to see if anyone else had pulled in. To our amazement, there was no one behind us. So Steve started backing up, around the curve, back to the sign for the drive through.
When he got back to the sign, he said "Were Back", and he started to place our order. The woman on the other end of the speaker said "I can't hear you, you're going to have to speak up". It was then that we realized that the speaker for the drive through was still about another fifteen feet back. So Steve threw the car into reverse again, and we backed up to the speaker and once again placed our order.
By now, we were laughing so hard we were crying, and could hardly get the words out of our mouths. As we pulled forward once again to the drive thru line, we couldn't control our laughter. And of course, it was our turn to pull up to the window to collect our shakes.
The woman on the other side of the window somehow controlled herself and very professionally took our money and handed us our shakes. That was a shake experience that we will never forget! But in the end, it was all worth it.
And I think that next time we go through the drive thru, well definitely pay more attention!

Just Another Day in Paradise (Thursday, June 2nd, 2016)
We didn't drive our truck down to Lake Havasu City for this short adventure, so we have had to rely on friends to help us out with boating. Luckily, we have lots of great friends that are happy to share their boats with a couple of hitch hikers.
Since it is a weekday, the lake is nice and quiet.
After a quick trip to Havasu Springs Resort for some drinks, we jumped in at the far southern end of the lake to cool off. The water this time of year is about 82 degrees F and feels great!
When we left Havasu Springs Resort, we drove back up the lake to a spot called Three Dunes. When we first pulled in, there was a terrible stench! It didn't take us long to realize that there was a huge dead catfish laying on the shore. There was no way we would be staying there, so we moved further down the shore where the smell wouldn't bother us.
We spent a very fun, relaxing afternoon playing on the beach and in the lake, just enjoying the beauty of Lake Havasu.
As the sun began to sink lower in the sky, we gathered up our things and made our way back to the channel.
As we dropped Brian and Kathy off in the channel, it was very quiet and peaceful with enough clouds for the chance of a good sunset.
Paradise Returns (Wednesday, June 1st, 2016)
All of the summer birds have flown back to Southern California for another week of work. So once again, we have our peaceful piece of paradise to enjoy for another week.
The babies of summer are getting bigger!
And the Temperatures are getting hotter! It's about 105 degrees today. This is the time of year in Arizona when you need either air conditioning or water. Today we have chosen water!
After an afternoon of floating in the lake, we all decided to head over to the Nautical Inn for awhile. It is one of the hotel's on the island. They have a beautiful lakeside infinity pool and pool bar. Just another great way to stay cool during the heat of summer!
Thanks, Alan and Linda for a great day of boating. We enjoyed the ride!
