My Birds are Back! (Thursday, October 24th, 2019)

One of my favorite things at home in the winter is the birds that visit our back yard, and when we're gone, I miss them.  So when we got back this year, I put my bird feeders out, hoping they would return, and sure enough, they are back!

We have several humming birds.

And lots of quail...

And even a pair of Gila wood peckers.  They are new this year.

I'll keep you updated as I get more bird pictures.  They are so fun to watch!

Around the Mountain Ride (Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019)

Our first RZR ride of the year, with Steve and I together, and we're riding around the mountain behind the city of Lake Havasu.  Our ride started off on Bison, and ended ended at Challenger Wash.

It was a little too hot for riding today, with temperatures in the low 90's, but it was still a really fun ride.  The scenery was beautiful,

and the ocotillo's were bright green!

As we made our way around the back side of the mountain, we encountered our only real problem of the trip, and luckily it was a little one.  A flat tire.  Not our our car, but everyone chips in to help get it changed, none the less.

The "jack" RZR needed a little bit of help supporting the weight.

Oh yeah, it's definitely flat!

Back on the road, and back to the beautiful scenery!

What a great ride!  A little bit of everything including some fun rocks near the end.

Golfing at Laughlin Ranch (Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019)

What an amazing October it has been!  In fact, it has been so nice that I haven't had time to keep up with the blog.  Between boating, RZR riding, golfing, catching up with friends and eating, we just haven't had any spare time.  Posts will be few this month, but multiply each of them by about five, and you'll have our month in a nutshell.

We have been golfing a lot with Sam and Sharyn, in Havasu, and at Huukan, and today we are golfing at Laughlin Ranch for the first time this year.

It is such a challenging course, and yet very forgiving too, if that's possible.  We had forgotten how much we love this course!

As we sat in the restaurant enjoying a kilt Lifter after our game, this little bird came to join us.

More Cousin Time (Wednesday, October 16th, 2019)

Steve cousin Stacey and her husband Dan chose Lake Havasu as their vacation destination this fall, so we (Steve's brother and sister-in-law and us) did our best to show them a good time while they were here.  The last time we saw them was in March when we all did our cousin's cruise, so it was exciting to get to see them again.  And, of course, boating was on the list of must do's.

We toured them around the lake, exploring Copper Canyon, California Cove, Three Dunes and Steamboat Cove.  And look what we saw in Steamboat Cove!

We only had a couple of short days with Dan and Stacey, so we enjoyed every minute of it!

We were so glad they took the time to come out, but were sorry they had to head back to the cold.  Miss you guys already!

Cabin Ride with Dad (Friday, October 11th, 2019)

As we made our way around the western United States this summer, I told Steve that I would really like to be back in Havasu by October 1st, because October is my favorite month at home.  So the end of September we started making our way back.  We followed the 101 down to the San Francisco Bay area of California and then cut across toward the east.  We stayed one night in Stockton, CA at the Elks lodge, where we had a very warm welcome (guests by their first drink and get the second one free) and great accommodations for the night for a $20 donation, then made our way home the next day.  The Stockton Elks members were extremely welcoming!

Since being home, the weather has cooperated perfectly, and we have been enjoying every minute of our busy lives.  My parents stopped by on their way through from St. George, Utah to their winter home in the Phoenix area, so we had a chance to spend some time catching up with them.  Their first day here, Steve took my dad on a RZR ride to the Dollar Cabin with our local SXS Club.

My dad is a tall man, so it took some work to get him into my harness, but we did it!

My mom and I went to the starting point of the ride to see them off.

It was really fun to think about the guys as they were out there riding.  My dad got to try something that we do a lot, and to experience a big part of our lives.  They ate lunch at the cabin and then explored the mine.

It looks like Steve has his flashlight ready for the mine exploration.

When they returned that night, we got to hear all about their adventure.  I think my dad had a really great time!
