Birthday Boating (Tuesday, May 14th, 2019)

It our friend Alan's birthday, and he loves boating, so the four of us went out on the lake today to celebrate Alan!  We took their boat, and headed up the river.  It was a gorgeous day!

The river was high today, but we found a beautiful little sandy spot to park and enjoy the river.

A young male duck came visiting, and was really comfortable with us, so he took a nap most of the time we were there.

Our next stop was the Topock Marina for some lunch and a birthday drink.

Then back down the river where we decided to explore a few less traveled areas.  I don't really recommend it though, we had to hand walk Alan's boat through a lot of goo, and the view was about the same from the inside as the outside.

All in all, we had a terrific day!  The river was quiet and beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the water is warming up nicely.  It was a fun day, just getting back to nature and enjoying time with good friends.  We heard burros and bull frogs, and saw a muskrat swimming along the shore.

As we approached the boat ramp, this mama duck was swimming by with her 15 babies.

Unfortunately, we scared them, and they scattered in all directions.  We ended up shutting off the boat and letting them all re-group.  It took awhile, but they finally all found their way back to their mom, and out of the way of the boat ramp.

When we got home, this is what our outdoor thermometer on the cool side of the house said, and this was at 7:10 at night.  It felt like a warm day, but we didn't realize it was this warm.

Happy Birthday Alan, we hope your birthday was everything you wished for!

Happy Mother's Day from Laughlin Ranch! (Sunday, May 12th, 2019)

Happy Mother's Day to our moms and all of our mom friends!

I heard from both of our girls and our son (in law) last night and again today, and received a wonderful gift of beautiful nails (which is an incredible gift for me because I have the worst nails in the world!)  But even though I always know they are thinking of me, it's hard to spend holidays without them.

It definitely makes it easier if we have something fun on our agenda, so today we are back at Laughlin Ranch for a game of golf and a Mother's Day brunch with our good friends Sam and Sharyn.

Look at all the bunnies on this tee box.

We once again, really enjoyed our round of golf at Laughlin Ranch.  And today as we came into the club house, we were starving!  Our round of golf started at 9:15, and it is now about 1:15.  This course is quite spread out, so it takes awhile to play.  We are so excited for our brunch that awaits us!

When we walked into the restaurant Brittney was waiting for us and had our table ready.  We each started with a beer to sit and relax before we dove into the brunch buffet.  Oh, and we took some fun Mother's Day pictures as well!

Our seat for the brunch was PERFECT, and made to a great end to a fabulous day.  All of the staff at Laughlin Ranch have been so nice, and have made our two days here really fun!

We had a great time with our waitress Brittney.  She did such a great job for us, and we had such a fun time sharing life stories with her.  We wish her the best as she continues her life adventures.

Happy Mother's Day 2019!

Laughlin Ranch Golf Course (Saturday, May 11th, 2019)

Today we played a new course in Bull Head City, AZ called Laughlin Ranch with our friends Sam and Sharyn.  It is just across the river from Laughlin, NV.

It is a difficult, and yet forgiving course, all at once, and is probably our new favorite courses in this area.  It is a true desert course with great fairways and greens, and beautiful views from every hole.

It seemed like at every T box we had to really analyze the situation before we could even hit.

The clouds built throughout the afternoon, and by the time we hit the back nine, it was starting to get a bit stormy looking.  But there was nothing threatening, so we kept playing.

Just as we were teeing off on the 16th hole, we got a warning on our cart that lightning had been sighted in the area, and they asked us to return to the pro shop.  So we returned to the pro shop and waited out the storm while we enjoyed a beer in the restaurant.

When we got to the pro shop, we were loving this course so much that we decided we wanted to play again, so we went in and made another tee time for tomorrow.  They also had an advertisement for a Mother's Day brunch that they would be holding tomorrow, so we tried to get reservations for that as well, but they said that they were already full.

We told him that we would like to have a beer while we waited for the weather to clear so he told us to park in the tunnel (to protect our clubs) and head on up to the restaurant.  So into the tunnel we went.

At the restaurant, we ordered our beers and sat back to relax for a few minutes.  Our bartender Brittney asked us if we were coming to the Mother's Day Brunch tomorrow, and we said that we would like to, but that there were no reservations left.  She said that she would be able to take us at the bar, or out on the patio if we wanted, so we graciously accepted her offer and asked her to hold us a table for 2:00 on the patio.  This bad weather actually brought us great luck!  We're so excited for tomorrow.

Once the weather cleared, we headed back out to play the last three holes.

As we continued playing, the sun even came out on the hills that had been so dark before.  It was beautiful!

We had a great day of golfing and are so excited to hit the course again tomorrow!

Our Final Day in Puerto Penasco (Monday, May 6th, 2019)

Our last day in Puerto Penasco was a fun shopping day on Rodeo Drive!  It is a quaint, fun part of town that we just love.  It wasn't surprising that everyone found something that they loved, and luckily, we drove down there in our old 1998 Winnebago, so we had plenty of room to bring all of their treasures home!

Can you see all of the great stuff back there on the bed?  So much stuff!

And for dinner we ate at the bar at The Reef RV Park.  My coconut shrimp was great!  I highly recommend it!

We ended our final day with a beautiful sunset.  What a great vacation with great friends!

Marathon and Half Marathon, Vancouver BC, Canada (Sunday, May 5th, 2019)

While we were enjoying our leisurely life down in Mexico, our oldest daughter was running her first half marathon, and her husband was running his first on-road marathon in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

This was a huge accomplishment for two people that work full-time plus and don't have a lot of time to train!  We are so proud of both of them!
