I don't usually start my morning with a pina colada, but I gave in to peer pressure, and all of us girls enjoyed a nice cool drink from these guys. It was SO good.
About lunch time, we got two taxi's for the six of us and headed to town. It's a $15 ride to town per taxi, so it came to $5 per person.
There was a sailboat race right off of the sandy beach where we usually stay.
This was a fun way to spend Cinco De Mayo!

We had such a fun day in town, enjoying good food and drinks, shopping, and lots of playing tourist.
OK, this is super cool. Today there is a sea lion hanging out in the sandy bay at The Reef!
What a ham! He totally made our day!
Our trip to Puerto Penasco came off without any difficulties. We stopped at Granny Macs in Why, AZ for a little lunch on the way. It was pretty good, but nothing to write home about, but it is the top rated restaurant in the Ajo area.
We are staying at a new RV Park this time, it is called The Reef, and is further west than our usual park. It is kind of off by itself, but it has a restaurant and bar, so you wouldn't need to leave if you didn't want to.
This park is called The Reef because the entire beach is a reef, with lots of fun tide pools to explore.
There's so much to see here, but if you're looking for a big sandy beach to relax on, this isn't it.
There is some sand at the top of the beach, above the reef, but it isn't close to the water.
The reef brings in lots of fun creatures.
I think we are going to like it here. It's a nice change from the RV Park on Sandy Beach.
It's Thursday and we are once again on our way to Puerto Penasco, MX for a little camping trip. I just can't resist sharing a few photos of Organ Pipe as we drive through, it's so beautiful!
This time of year everything is blooming!
We're just about to cross the border, so hopefully that will go as smoothly as it always does. Next stop...Puerto Penasco!
The temps in Havasu are soaring, we were at 104 F yesterday, and it's expected to be close to that again today, so we headed to higher ground in Searchlight for a RZR ride. Our friend Keith is really good at putting together really interesting rides, and we know that today will be no exception.
Our first stop was this old abandoned mine.
And then another abandoned mine and camp. These are always so interesting to look at, but you have to be careful of some of the old mine shafts. They can be hundreds of feet deep, straight down. The authorities are good about fencing them off, but we still like to watch our step.
Then we headed through the mountains to Lake Mohave.
We had a nice lunch at the lake, but it was hot, so even though we were fully clothed, Sharyn and I decided to just go in. Boots and all.
Everybody thought we were crazy, and made a little fun of us, but we didn't mind. We were having fun!
John always has to do a little extra curricular rock climbing. This wasn't part of our ride.
After lunch we stopped at this old mine and "ghost town" called Techatticup. It was established in 1861. A family still owns it and lives here, but the mine is no longer active. They have a nice little air conditioned shop where we bought some nice cold drinks.
The largest and most productive mine in Nevada is on their land. It is no longer in production, but a lot of the old equipment is still around.

Our final stop of the day was an amazing rock canyon with petroglyphs and a dry water fall.
Today was a truly amazing day, with good friends, great views and cool beautiful water. This is the kind of ride I really love! There is so much to see out in our beautiful desert, you just have to take the time to look around.
